Interview – Sharon van Etten

The intimacy of the confession characterizes the work of Sharon Van Etten. The singer-songwriter from the suburban New Jersey produced since teenage days pieces about the dark side of love, about rejection, fear of loss and emotional abuse.  For graduation, she moved to Tennessee. The tragic relationship with a man, she maintains there over six years, there can be the ultimate impetus for the career. In order not to fall in the aftermath  in depression of the relationship, Van Etten processed the misfortune artistic. “My former partner had not supported me in my music,” says van Etten. With her recent album she is dealing with the love to her recent boyfriend in NYC which due to fact of intense touring, she cannot see as often as she wants.
