Interview – Scout Niblett

At 19, it pulls Scout from Staffordshire, England to Nottingham, where she attended an art school and get busy with film, performance art and music. She will primarily depend on the latter. Due to the sparing instrumentation and haunting, intense voice Scout Niblett is often compared with PJ Harvey and Chan Marshall aka Cat Power.

As the first instrument Emma Louise learns flute. Then she starts to play piano, but denied as a nine-year-old already teaching. The reason: “I did not learn the songs of other people.” So she wrote her own. Her later stage name of Emma is equal to itself, the protagonist of the movie “To Kill A Mockingbird” impressed her so much that she hastily takes the name: Scout
