Interview – Michael Mayer
Michael Mayer is worldwide known as the “flagship” of the Cologne techno label Kompakt. Starting with the age of 14 as a Dj he got in touch by time with people like Tobias Thomas, Jörg Burger or Jürge Paape. That was the basic cell of the label. Kompakt is a all in one of a label, record shop and club and party concept Mayer makes the A & R for the musical direction of the label, and is producing several tracks recorded alongside Tobias Thomas and performing at the club night ‘Total Confusion’ in the studio 672nd.
In 2005 Kompakt becoming the epitome of electronic music in Cologne. Mayer and her most industrious ambassador. His Dj gigs take him around the world. With the growing popularity he is getting also more remix requests from high-profile artists. Therefore Mayer had the chance to remix youth idols such as the Pet Shop Boys, even Miss Kittin and Depeche Mode.
